A Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf Project
This is to inform you about a manuscript that we've recently published
called The Canadian Dictionary of ASL which has about 9,000 word
entries, along with definitions, usage, parts of speech, and explicit instructions
as to how to form the signs which are illustrated throughout. The dictionary
is unique in many ways, including regional sign variations and many tips
as to how the basic vocabulary is actually incorporated into the visual
language. There are special feature sections such as geographical signs, a pronoun chart, and numbers to mention just a few.
The publication is instructive for deaf people in terms
of English language development and for hearing teachers, parents, etc.
who want/need to learn sign language.
